Running IniTEX

When setting up a new format one has to start IniTEX<#326#><#326#> with <#327#>#tex2html_accent_inline1530#<#327#> as the input file. After displaying some progress report on the terminal, <#328#>#tex2html_accent_inline1531#<#328#> will try to 92 the files <#329#>#tex2html_accent_inline1532#<#329#> and <#330#>#tex2html_accent_inline1533#<#330#>.

As we said above, it seems a good idea to rename these files because, when TEX<#331#><#331#> complains that it cannot find them and asks you to type in another file name, you get the chance to substitute your favourate hyphenation patterns without changing <#332#>#tex2html_accent_inline1534#<#332#> or copying something to <#333#>#tex2html_accent_inline1535#<#333#>. The transcript file will show the name of the file used which is very useful to debug weird errors (later).

When the point is reached where TEX<#334#><#334#> wants to read in <#335#>#tex2html_accent_inline1536#<#335#>, you now have to specify `<#336#>#tex2html_accent_inline1537#<#336#>'. This file will 93 some other files. After processing them (which will take some time), IniTEX<#337#><#337#> stops once more since it cannot find the file <#338#>#tex2html_accent_inline1538#<#338#>. This is intentional; 58 in this way you may now specify the desired default by entering one of the following file names:

If you choose this file, your format will be identical to the standard L^ATEX<#341#><#341#> version 2.09 except that a few additional commands (like 94) are available. Of course, documents or style options which explicitly refer to things like 95 will produce error messages since such internal commands are no longer defined.^{#tex2html_accent_inline1545#} Nevertheless it is easy to fix the problem in such a case: if we know that 96 referred to <#344#>#tex2html_accent_inline1548#<#344#>, i.e. Computer modern typewriter normal at 10pt, we can define it as

To get the new way of font selection as described in the previous sections (e.g. where 98 simply means to switch to another family) you only have to add the `<#350#>#tex2html_accent_inline1550#<#350#>' style option to the 99 command in your document.

This is just the counterpart to <#351#>#tex2html_accent_inline1552#<#351#>: it will make the new mechanism the default and you have to add `<#352#>#tex2html_accent_inline1553#<#352#>' as a style option if you want to process older documents which depend on the old mechanism.

This file is similar to <#353#>#tex2html_accent_inline1555#<#353#> but does not define the L^ATEX<#354#><#354#> symbol fonts. These fonts contain only a few characters which are also included in the AMS symbol fonts. Therefore we provided the possibility of generating a format which doesn't unnecessarily occupy one of the (only) sixteen math groups within one math version. Using this file you can easily switch to the old scheme (adding `<#355#>#tex2html_accent_inline1556#<#355#>' as an option), to the new scheme with L<sup>A</sup>TEX<#356#><#356#> symbol fonts (using `<#357#>#tex2html_accent_inline1557#<#357#>') or to the new scheme with additional AMS fonts by using either the style option `<#358#>#tex2html_accent_inline1558#<#358#>' (fonts only) or the style option `<#359#>#tex2html_accent_inline1559#<#359#>' (defining the whole set of A_MS-TEX<#360#><#360#> macros in a L^ATEX<#361#><#361#> like syntax).
